Accident Disabled Army Veteran Needs Grant To Build Barn And Fix Van

by Marion Morehouse
(Oxford, Ohio, USA)

I'm a 60-year-old Army vet. I served in Desert Storm.

I live with my wife and two out of five children still at home with us. They are a daughter 20 and son 18 and still in high school.

We also have three grandchildren under the age of three.

We live in a rural area so things are not in easy walking distance for us.

Before I became disabled by an accident, I had wanted to build a barn for our tractor and equipment.

Disability Issues

I am permanently disabled. I was injured at work and my wife was in a car accident. She is also permanently disabled. Her leg has been amputated.

Financial Hardship

The money we receive from SSI pays the house payment and the medical bills along with other household bills like water, electric, credit card bill, trash removal, telephone and food.

We also visit food pantries in our area. We live month to month.

Income Efforts

My daughter was working. Her van quit on the highway. It needs a timing chain and we don't have the money to fix the van.

My wife and I both receive SSDI.

Specific Needs

I would like a grant to have a barn or garage built. Our tractor and equipment are sitting out in the weather.

It would be nice to be able to get the van fixed as well so the daughter can work again.

I would appreciate any help I can get.
