Accident Paralyzed Man Seeks Grant Money To Restore Independence

Me before my accident

Me before my accident

My name is Michael Morgan. I am a extremely ambitious person. I have had a tax ID since the age of 13.

I started selling and installing car audio and mobile electronics off and on up until 2006. I really went all in after this because I have three daughters I support and want to leave the business to.

Everything was really starting to take off and I was extremely excited. I was so dedicated I would leave home at 10 pm at night and place business cards in the door windows of vehicles at bars and night clubs till 3:00 am in the morning five days a week.

Then I'd get up and go to my 9-to-5 and use my lunch break to drive 50 miles to pick up product every day. God I miss it.

In 2007, on July 4th, the day everyone celebrates their independence, I lost mine. I was play wrestling with my brother in-law in the front yard and was body slammed… my neck was broken.

This left me paralyzed. I was told I am lucky. Breaking the third vertebrae from the top renders you a quadriplegic.

I was in the hospital for a month, then another eight at a nursing home. I returned home and my wife of nine years left me.

The business crashed. I lost my vehicle and my home. Now my aunt has let me rent from her. I'm on disability, but want to support my children and myself. At the same time, I want to show them to never give up.

I'm at my breaking point but still trying. I am partially paralyzed now. My left side works while my right is non-functioning.

I am confined to a wheelchair and everyone has abandoned me.

I really need to accomplish this. Please help me help myself.

Grants & Scholarships

Have you thought about getting involved in a support group that is for spinal cord injuries? There are several online that can be accessed without a fee. It may help to talk with others who have similar injuries. They may also know of assistance available.

Taking a class in college may be something to consider.

Take care.
