Aunt Seeks Government Grant For Sister With Accident Disabled 35 Year Old Son
by Kristina Britton
(Chandler, OK, USA )
My name is Kristina Britton and I am writing this because of the problems faced by my sister and her son.
This is how it began. When my nephew was 6 or 7, he had leukemia and went through various treatments, including radiation.
As this was going on it tore a hole in one of his heart valves but was never detected till now. My sister brought him though this with the Lord on her side.
Around 15 years ago my sister was diagnosed with cancer and she went through the same process again with the Lord on her side and she is now in remission.
My sister has one daughter and three sons. She raised them all as a single parent and is a great and understanding mother.
About three months ago, her 35-year-old son was in a massive car wreck that would have killed anyone else instantly. He has very bad disabilities from that wreck. Here is his story.
Jeremy was a hard worker and was headed to work where he was a nurse who loved helping disabled people.
He had a massive car wreck and was brought to our medical center in Oklahoma in serious condition.
He had broken his top and bottom jaw out of their sockets, along with his chin bone, which now has a metal plate in it.
He broke his spine and several ribs and now wears a body cast to prevent him from being paralyzed.
His anklebones shattered as well as his shinbones and now his legs are in braces to keep him together. On his legs alone he went through 5 or 6 surgeries and is now wheelchair bound.
The cops told him he was lucky to be alive.
He hit his heart on something in the car and now he has two leaky valves. He needs heart surgery but with all the chemo he had it is too risky.
His doctors were amazed that he even made it. I went to the hospital the night it happened and made several trips there during his surgeries.
My sister was able to bring him home within two months, not because he needed to be sent home, but because the hospital found out there was no insurance so they kicked him out of the hospital.
Since that time my sister lost her job because she has to be with my nephew. The bank she had her car through repoed her vehicle, even after her calling them and making sure they knew what she was going through.
I am now their transportation to get him back and forth to doctor appointments over an hour and a half away.
I am writing this letter because I do not live in the same town as my sister and if she needs to get him to a hospital in an emergency she can't because she doesn't have a way.
I am hoping someone/anyone can find it in their hearts to help my family out with a vehicle or something to help them get on their feet again.
We have no one to turn to but you. Please help. Thank you very much.
