Disability Grant To Help Charles With Multiple Disabilities Reduce Med And Living Costs

by Charles Kalina
(Sugar Land, TX, USA)

I recently entered my fifties. I've lived in the southwest Houston area all my life. I am single with no kids and no pets. I now live with family.

I've been working since I was 14 years old, in the alarm service and install industry for the past 20 years. I have the state permit card. I am a man that is not afraid of work and love being a productive person in the world.

Disability Issues

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis in 2008, and sleep APNEA in 2011. Then in 2014 it was Lyme disease.

Following that, I was diagnosed with herniated and bulged discs in the lower back and upper neck from a major car wreck.

In 2015 I was diagnosed with neurocognitive disorder, major depression and ADHD.

I am on a CPAP machine. Major issues are: blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid, testosterone, Lyme and minor dental issues.

Financial Hardship

I am currently waiting to see a judge for SSDI, hopefully very soon. I have moved in with my mom who is also disabled and on Social Security.

Luckily I have always lived below my income level, but have not worked in 18 months. I can no longer work due to all of my disability issues.

Income Efforts

I have been trying to work in 2015 but due to stress and memory problems and other health issues could not hold a job.

My own savings have run out and family is helping to support me.

Churches in the area have very little too give to the huge demand from the community.

Specific Needs

I need money to pay for living expenses, medicines, credit card debt and a car (mine was wrecked by someone texting on phone on the freeway).

Also my mom's house needs new windows and siding to keep the elements out. I have no insurance at this time. I am paying out of pocket for doctors and meds.
