by Joseph Msusa
(Mwanza, Ukerewe, Tanzania)
I am a 26-year-old youth from Mwanza region in the Ukerewe District within Tanzania. Currently I am a student at university of Dodoma.
I am from a family of six orphan children where I am the oldest of three girls and two other young boys. All of us are living the worst due to extreme poverty
I was born with deformed feet, a problem from my childhood that can be revealed by my physical appearance.
I completed my secondary education walking in bare feet due to how the feet are. Up to now I have never worn shoes. This makes me feel guilty in public.Financial Hardship
I have passed into a hard life of failing even to buy shoes to fit my feet. I was born in an agricultural family. Growing up I was helped by my beloved late mama until her death. She helped with all my school costs.
After her death in 2009 while I was still in secondary school, I suffered economically and I still do.
Things started to get worse financially when my father passed away while I was still young. Thank God I’m a university student with a government loan to pay school fees.Income Efforts
Soon after the death of my mother, I got a job to pay for my basic needs. I was employed by one of our local village business men to sell grains after school. The work challenged my academic performance.
In 2010 when I was in form four, I got help from the government to pay my school fees.
I tried to think on owning my business that I be free from this extreme poverty but I failed to get a start up capitalSpecific Needs
I would like info on business start-up capital grants so that I can be helped to do my best to help my community be a better place in which to live, work and grow.
I also want to be the best I can to help others.
For people like me with a physical disorder, we are affected by our disability suffer in life because of it.Business Idea
I would like to establish a cereal retail market in Ukerewe to serve people and to unleash my potentials to the family and society at large.
