Disability Grant To Help Kidney Disease Disabled Beverly With Accessible Transportation

by Beverly Howell
(Geneva, Alabama, USA)

I'm a 63-year-old female with no family. It's just my dog and I. Though he is an animal he's a unique support system.

When I'm down or having one of my dreaded migraines he's there to keep me relaxed. I tend to isolate myself since I don't have family.

Disability Issues

My physical challenges are severe and my kidney disease is a result of being inherited.

I'm currently on Disability due to a bad fall I took several years ago. A year ago I was placed on dialysis.

Financial Hardship

With drawing just over $750 a month it's hard to repair broken things around my house and find affordable transportation.

With only $29 in food stamps I have to buy cheap food. Some of it isn't conducive to being on dialysis but I make do.

Income Efforts

With not being able to work due to the disability and dialysis I draw SSI and SSDI along with food stamps.

Watching my $$ close I don't get outside of my house much to attend functions other than Church.

I do visit local friends and stretch my $$ so that I can make my out-of-town doctor's appointments.

Specific Needs

I seek a grant in order to have better transportation. At the moment my vehicle's being repaired. It's a 1998 Dodge Caravan minivan.

I'm hoping to get enough $$ to buy a better vehicle and have a little extra so that I can get out of my house to eat out a couple of times.

Business Idea

I have an idea for improving an existing product but I don't want to submit it to patent companies due to them wanting $$ up front.

No Handout but Handup
by: Beverly Howell

I don't ask for a handout but a handup. It's my hope that somebody will restore my faith in others and help.
