by Michael Williamson
(Albion, Michigan, USA)

I am 55 and divorced now for over 29 years. I have two kids that do not live near me.

I was lucky enough not to be drafted to serve in the military during the Vietnam War. I have been in Albion Michigan all my life and I plan on staying. I am lucky to have many friends.

Disability Issues

I broke my back in 1999 and since then had two back surgeries and I'm going to get third as soon as possible.

I was lifting a brake drum spindle and snapped two discs in lower back. I live on Social Security Disability.

My third surgery will be with newest form of help with an electrical switch inserted in the spine.

Financial Hardship

I am paying a mortgage on a single-family home.

I have been paying doctors, prescriptions and all other things needed to stop the pain in my spine.

I do not work and I live day-to-day fight all my bills.

I just recently had to buy and make payments on a newer vehicle.

I have many friends who are very helpful.

Income Efforts

Family and friends have been helpful.

I get $1222 a month on SSDI.

I have not had any luck with getting grants

Specific Needs

I need grants to repair and update the building for new tenants and renters.
