Disability Grants To Help ADHD And Schizophrenia Disabled Kristopher Rebuild Life

by Kristopher Leyer
(South Jordan, Utah, USA)

Kristopher Leyer
My name is Kristopher Glen Leyer. I'm 33 years old. I have my two parents, and three brothers, who are all married with children.

My parents are insurance agents. They were in a major car accident with a 10-ton military dump truck. My dad broke 11 ribs and his sternum and his clavicle. My mom broke her femur and sternum and had her left leg crushed with no fractures.

I am a licensed massage therapist. I also have a Class A commercial driver's license.

I like to go bowling and spend time with family and a few close friends.

In November 2011, I was in a car accident that totaled my car. Then in December 2011, someone twice my size punched me in my head. That same month, I also hit my head on a tube.

I don't know if it was one or a combination of those incidents, but that's when I started having audio hallucinations.

Disability Issues

I was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder as a child. It affected my ability to learn and grasp the concepts that were being taught.

I almost didn't graduate elementary school.

In May 2014, I was diagnosed with schizophrenia. I didn't know what to think let alone know how or what I could do about my newly found condition.

The paranoid schizophrenia has affected my life greatly from not being able to maintain employment to taking showers, brushing my teeth and everyday acts of daily living.

I also developed multiple blood clots in my lungs while working as a massage therapist that left me in severe pain and went to the hospital because of it.

The medications now are not the best ones; they are ones that are cheap.

Financial Hardship

I owe almost $10,000 on a car that needs some minor repairs and a paint job. I owe over $10,000 on school loans. A company that I owe a couple of thousand dollars wants to take me to court.

I also have a few other bills amounting to roughly $4,000.

Not being able to work because of these mental conditions has put me on the brink of bankruptcy.

Income Efforts

I tried working as a licensed massage therapist. I had to leave that because of the schizophrenia and hearing voices.

After getting my Class A commercial driver's license, I got a job as a driver for the May Trucking Company.

Hearing voices, I felt unsafe driving a vehicle weighing up to 80,000 pounds, so shortly after training, I ended up leaving that job. I hoped to get medical care that would allow me to go back to work.

I am trying to get onto Social Security Disability income.

Also I have my ward's help to pay for my counseling and my parents are paying for my medications.

Specific Needs

I need a way to pay for my debts, medications and medical expenses including counseling.

I have several cavities and so I need dental work done.

I need to finish my parents' basement so that I have my own space. I want to remain close to my parents to help them with whatever I can to ease their added burdens because of the accident.

Also I need work done on my car and a paint job… or a new car/SUV/truck.

Business Idea

After the basement is finished I would like to continue practicing massage therapy part-time out of the house.

Also I would like to start a charity for people with mental illnesses.

He deserves it!
by: Angela Dicharo

Kris is a dear friend and has been one of a kind and that being said I would give anything in the world for my dear friend. He truly deserves to be helped and it would all go for a good cause to make him happier in life as he has his struggles but tends to go about life still no matter what. But now he is reaching out for the love and support to get him well in many ways. He truly is a gift from God. I love my friend to the moon and back and want to see him happy and succeeding all of his goals and dreams successfully!!!
