Epileptic 57 Year Old Navy Veteran Seeks Business Relocation Grant Money
(Denver, Colorado, USA)
I am a 57-year-old US Navy veteran. I am married and have a grown son who is a Marine veteran who served in Afghanistan.
An electronic technician by trade, I'm a regular hard-working Joe with my own business. My company has been registered in the State of Colorado for 10 years.
My business is repairing professional audio equipment. I do work for many companies and stadiums in Colorado. I need help in finding and funding space for my shop.
I have epilepsy. No one knows exactly when it started, but I had spinal meningitis when I was 4. The first time I remember having a seizure was when I was around 26.
I voluntarily no longer drive because my seizures are unpredictable (uncontrollable as well). They are starting to increase with increased stress around my environment.
Due to high rent costs, I moved into a shop with a friend that I had previously done business with. This was 3 years ago.
The owner of the building that I rent offered me a great deal on rent. He operates his business from here also.
Unfortunately, he and four of his employees smoke in my work area. It's so bad that my eyes are red and swollen by the end of the day.
I was a smoker when I moved in three years ago, but I've been smoke-free for over 2 years now.
I am under a great deal of stress from him and another employee due to me not smoking. I have to move out of here as my seizures increase with stress. This is very toxic mentally and physically.
I have asked that smoking be prohibited inside the building, but it falls on deaf ears. This is a family business and I am an outsider.
For my health, I have to get out. I need to see if somehow I can get help with rental costs.
I want to continue to support myself. I can't work at home as I work on large equipment and need more room.
Also, the equipment I repair is often dropped off in larger trucks that can't navigate the streets in my neighborhood.
I am hoping to find some help in finding a new place for my shop. I would like to know if there is some type of help available for rent like a grant or some other type of benefit.
As a skilled electronic technician, I can carry my own weight and wish to continue to do so. I just need financial help or ideas to move forward.
