Father Disabled In Four Story Fall Seeks Grant To Expand Business
by Michael Sweigart

I am a 50-year-old male. I am married.
We have four kids, ages 24, 23, 21, and 15. Our children live at home and they all help best they can. We all work together.
I worked for builders for 15 years. I always did the “bull” work like carrying the heavy materials.
One of my disabilities is a learning disability, but I did the best I could.
One day I fell off a four-story building. I seriously injured my back. Since I was the small guy making everyone else rich, I had no benefits or savings or even workers' compensation.
I receive very little money every month. In this economy, with kids living at home, it’s hard to make ends meet. We are trying to do our best.
My kids and I have been scrapping metal on the side for the last few years. We have done fairly well with this venture. We all live together, so they help.
Now I want to take this endeavor a big step further. I want to expand our business.
I have been studying for the last two years. I have learned how to do this and how to become independent.
Now I just need start up money in order to move forward.
I am looking for grants that will provide start up money.
What I plan to do is buy metal from the government and resell for a significant profit. This is what I’m already doing, but this would be on a bigger scale.
Once my business becomes successful and I start making money, I want to open a nonprofit for other people with disabilities to do the same.
I’ve been studying up on the business I’ve already been running for three years.
Everything in my operation will be done with machines, including the loading and unloading. All I will have to do is wait in the van and watch.
I plan on always putting my proceeds back into my business.
My business is registered with the government already. My business name is NJJUNK.
I have not found the start up money yet, but I will never give up trying to get it.
