First Generation Woman Veteran Seeks Grant Money For College Education
by Tiffany Hawley

Joining the U.S. Army was the best decision I have ever made.
My life was going downhill fast, and college was not the right decision for me directly out of high school.
I met a friend while attending college who was shipping out to boot camp and he changed my life forever.
Leaving my family and friends was a challenge, but knowing that I had their full support made everything a whole lot easier.
Boot camp was a challenge, but one that I enjoyed. I was able to overcome obstacles that I thought I would never accomplish.
I have always been on the heavier side, so when my family came to my graduation, they hardly recognized me.
I continued on in my military career and I was reassigned to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Ca.
From there I was assigned to Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX. The people and relationships that I built while serving my country was another plus to my service.
I unfortunately, was never cleared for deployment. My injuries that I occurred while serving prevented me from one of the only things I truly wanted to do while serving.
The men and women of our country that are fighting the war deserve to come home to their families and I wanted to go over and take my turn to fight.
I was never able to accomplish this goal, but I have come to terms with this. I have applied to continue my college education, but with the economy where it is today, the moving expenses are starting to become too much.
I am looking for a little help in my time of need. I understand that there are more people out there who need the money more than me, so I hope they might find help along with myself.
Thank you for your time in reading my story and God Bless. Support the Troops! HOOAH!!!
