Government Grant Needed For Single Mother With Diabetes And Renal Failure
(Perris, CA, USA)
I am 29 years old and a diabetes and renal failure disabled single mother of a three year old boy.
I was a hardworking individual taking care of myself but when I got pregnant in 2006 I became very sick and spent lots of time in the hospital.
I was then let go of my job of two years. I tried to work but I developed preeclampsia and my blood pressure would not go down.
I was forced to have my son early at 32 weeks. He was born at 2 lb and 8 oz. He is a healthy today but still low in weight.
I expected to get better and return back to work but was still very weak. After having my son I was left with 25% functionality of my kidneys.
My bills stated piling up because the money I was receiving was not the same as if I was working and now I had a little one.
In December 2007 I was diagnosed with Renal Failure. Today I am bound to a machine three days a week for three hours in order to live.
I do have disability but it does not cover all my bills and living expenses.
I have been trying to look for a job without any luck. I need to find a job that will be flexible with dialysis.
I got a job but was asked to take a drug test and when I told them I had a medical condition, they told me that if I didn’t urinate in a cup I could not get this job.
I asked them to take my blood or hair maybe a swab of my mouth but they said no. I have been looking for someone to help me sue this company for discrimination and have yet to find anyone.
In the meantime, I had a car get repossessed and credit card bills that didn’t get paid, along with a student loan, for which finance charges are building up.
I am in deep water and don’t know what to do. My son and I live with my sister and her family. She already has five kids of her own. I can’t afford to pay her any rent money.
I really need some money to help pay my bills and help my current living situation would be a big blessing, my son deserves better.
I am trying to get it together but with my medical condition it is very hard.
