Grant For Teresa With Multiple Disabilities To Build Herbal Therapy Business

by Teresa Fisher
(Des Moines, Iowa, USA)

Hello, my name is Teresa. L. Fisher I am a 50-year-old American woman.

I raised four children mostly as a single parent. I figured my struggles would be not as they are.

My children have all left the nest happily making their mark in the world all successfully building profitable careers and starting families.

My greatest achievement has been to raise such well rounded children that want to improve the world for everyone.

They want to be good role models for the younger generations and inspirational for me to try to be the best I can be.

Disability Issues

My disability issue is having a muscle disease that turns the muscles to bone in both feet and legs. This has contributed to heel spurs

Not wanting to be wheelchair-bound I had surgeries performed on both of my feet reliving the pain and am walking without the aid of crutches now.

I have other problems as well. They are many.

I have a blood disease called thalassemia minor. It causes the bad blood cells to multiple twice as fast as the good blood cells. The bad blood cells attack the good blood cells making infections hard to fight off.

The doctor said that he calls it tired blood because it makes you tired faster than normal. It can be controlled by a diet rich in iron and potassium.

I have rheumatoid arthritis, which causes body aches and cramping of the joints.

I have COPD, which is caused by smoking.

I am also allergic to dust mites, tree pollen, rag weed and carbonated water, and I am lactose intolerant.

Since I have aged, my disability and health issues have increased, making it less likely for me to get hired. It also restricts my being active and causes me boredom and depression.

I have also suffered from a back injury which does not help my mobility issues.

Financial Hardship

The financial hardships that I am going through are mainly due to employers not being willing to hire me because of my disability, even though I have shown my willingness to work.

I have lost jobs due to being low person on the totem pole at the time of the economy crunch.

I have applied for disability and Social Security and was awarded $420 a month plus $65 in food stamps.

I am renting a room from my ex-husband, for $300 a month plus chores.

My parents and close family members have perished and siblings are unable to help.

My children have enough to take care of theirselves.

Income Efforts

I like to work and stay as active as possible but my disability and health issues have put a big damper on that.

I am a retired cosmetologist, I have a lot of training and skills.

I went to school for graphic arts, but found out that jobs in that field are in printing and I would not have the breaks I need for my feet.

I worked for JC Penny for six years but the economy found me at the bottom of the totem pole.

I worked as a school cook but as before I was found at the bottom of the totem pole.

I went to college to become a therapeutic rehabilitation therapist, but because of my financial picture.

I put that on hold until I'm able to finish the schooling required for the Homeopathogenic medicine.

Specific Needs

I need a dental grant to help pay for a bottom set of false teeth to replace my broken or misshapen teeth on the bottom.

I need medical grants so I can seek therapeutic rehabilitation treatments to increase my mobility capabilities.

I need a business grant for an online web page business to sell wholesale products for profit or to grow medicinal herbs for homeopathogenic medicine and herbal remedies.

I need a housing grant program to help me raise herbs and form a business of my own.

Business Idea

The reason I went to college was because I wanted to open a spa-like therapeutic rehabilitation therapy center.

The center would offer herbal therapeutic massage treatments, acupressure, chiropractic services, holistic homeopathogenic medicine, swimming aerobics and low impact exercises.

It could also have a retail area for buying homeopathogenic medicine, herbal remedies, as well as books on the subjects as well products for holistic health and living and art work.

Another form of business is an at-home online web company that sells therapeutic rehabilitation medicine, herbal remedies and books on how to make your own herbal medicines and buy the fresh herbs to do so.

It could offer advice and services of Doctors and Therapists that perform rehabilitation services or groups that teach and discuss holistic living techniques.

Hi Teresa,

No one can say you don't have an ambitious streak! Your goals are impressive but also fairly realistic. I am so hoping that you will be able to realize those ambitions for your herbal business.

Another source, besides Don's wonderful Workbook, is his associate, Brian Therrien's Disability Digest where he goes into detail with resources for disability and all the important links you'll need to further help you with improving your situation. It's also free, no obligation:

The Disability Digest

Stop back by when you get a chance to let us know how you are doing, okay? We'd love to hear a great success story!

Seeing a bigger picture.
by: Teresa

I am Teresa.L.Fisher. I wrote my story with the help of Ability-Mission.org's ever helpful staff, Don Coggan mainly.

After reviewing the wealth of information I have been presented with, I am sure I am going to need the guidance they offer, for it is a bigger picture I am looking at now than I thought about taking on.

Thinking about an online business has been rethought. An outlet shop would be better than an online one because I think it would be more functional with a place for holistic group meetings and or seminars. I think it would be a better approach.

I would really like to get the therapeutic treatments to help my mobility issues and my general health.

Getting my teeth fixed would help with my self-image and outlook.

As far as the herbs go, wholesale buying would probably be much better so if they want something other than is offered I could purchase it for them through the wholesale merchants.

I am still trying to digest all the information being presented to me.

I can say one thing... Ability-Mission.org has really opened my eyes to a much bigger picture than my original thoughts were.

Thank you for your time and interest. I am gaining knowledge from all that I have been given. Thank you and God bless all that work for ability-mission.org.
