Grant Help Needed For Car Accident Disabled Single Guy To Make Ends Meet

by Shane Brown
(Cincinnati, Ohio, US)

I'm just a disabled single guy trying to make it in the world. I need help, like a grant, to be able to do it.

I had a job at the VA Hospital working with our veterans. Now I have nurses helping me.

My life as a disabled person started on September 12, 2011, when I was in a bad car accident.

I suffered a broken left femur and shoulder, a cracked hip on my right side, a broken right elbow and a crushed right hand.

I had two separate 12-hour surgeries, one to fix my left femur, hip and shoulder, and another to fix my right hand and elbow.

Disabled as I now am, it's hard for me to take care of myself as I used to. Now I have to depend on other people to take me places like the store or to help me cook and get my house clean.

The accident has left me with financial problems. For example… I can't afford to make my house payment, so it is now going into foreclosure. In addition, I have no insurance to help me pay for my medication.

I applied for SSI and SSD and both turned me down. My doctor said I would not be returning to work for about a year or maybe longer due to all the broken bones.

I would like to see myself get my SSI or SSD. I have an attorney working on that now.

I would also like to be able to get a grant to help me pay off my hospital bills and to catch up on my mortgage, gas, electricity and water payments.

Life's bumps and bruises.

Hi Shane,

You were working at the VA hospital? If so, there is an address that I looked up and it seems as though they have quite a comprehensive benefit plan;

http://www.va.gov/JOBS/Job_Benefits/protect_income.asp

Did you check into this? You normally had to pay a part of it from your paycheck, but if you didn't you should still get part of the insurance.

Does your debt exceed your assets? While you have your lawyer maybe discuss chapter 7,11 or 13. It is not the best way to go, but if you get your SSDI you could live a little easier until you heal. You are young and will bounce back. Maybe give this address a try for your utility bills;

Good Luck,
Ken

The accident was my fault. I fell asleep at the wheel coming home from working night shift at work. I am 34 years old. Shane Brown

Healing time.

Hi Shane,

Sorry to hear about your situation. In order to see what is out there, more information would help. What was the cause of the accident? Who was at fault? Your age? There are many places to look for help. The more you say, the better the resources.

Ken
