Grant Money To Help Congestive Heart Failure Disabled Man Regain Autonomy

by Cemail Smith
(Houston, Texas, USA)

My name is Cemail S. Smith Jr. I am a 28-year-old African American man from Beaumont, Texas currently living in Houston, Texas.

I have four kids: two girls and two boys and is currently separated from my wife.

I love writing, music, cooking and designing custom t-shirts in Adobe Photoshop.

I am a Christian that loves to help people.

Disability Issues

I have been diagnosed with congestive heart failure (CHF), high blood pressure, neuropathy, diabetes and high cholesterol.

I have a defibrillator implanted in my chest in case my heart stops. I am currently taking nine different medications. A virus was said to attack my heart.

I was 320 pounds. Now I am 165 pounds. When it first started I had trouble breathing when I walked from one part of the house to the next.

My neuropathy has gotten worse in my legs and feet. The pain is unbearable at times.

I also have panic attacks that I control by simple breathing techniques shown to me by hospital doctors.

Financial Hardship

It is hard to make it on SSI alone. And with all these health issues, I have minimal work opportunities.

I am receiving just $714 a month, which is enough to pay rent and bills.

My son's mother is on SSI also and we stay together but nothing is left over to get a vehicle or pay my school debt from the past.

I would love to become a homeowner but down payment and no credit and school debt is an issue.

I would love to go back to school to have some kind of skill and education to make extra money and maybe become a successful business owner.

My computer is a cheap outdated piece of hardware, which makes it hard to search and be productive.

Income Efforts

I have tried work at home ventures but in the end were money schemes.

I cannot stand up for long periods of time without hurting and the pain in my legs and feet getting to me.

I have tried selling custom printed t-shirts online. Having no money for inventory to run a home-based business, I can d no more than design the t-shirts and fitted hats.

My family helps every month with diapers, bus fare and other expenses.

Specific Needs

I would like information on:
- grants for school, information on getting a divorce
- information on down payment assistance for disabled people trying to buy their first home
- money to get a reliable vehicle
- grants available for disabled people trying to get money to start a small business.

I want to invest more into my small t-shirt printing business.

God helps those who help themselves

God bless you for trying to contribute to society. First, your heart will keep you from starting a business because of the stress and panic attacks. I have been in Houston and they have flea markets. Make your T-shirts. If you airbrush, do cars and trucks and go to car shows also. Pray and read up on grants. Get a book entitled "Grants for Dummies" It may not help you, but you will least know.

You also have to worry about SSI as they don't want you to work and make extra money. As far as everything else goes, pray. Take your family to church every week or more if possible. Put Jesus on your T-shirts and give them away as tithing. may God bless you and your family and help you in miraculous ways.
