Grant To Help Cancer Disabled Grandpa With Medical Expense Debt Relief

by Mary
(Newark, Ohio, USA)

My grandfather got rushed to the hospital December 24th 2009. Then he was Life Flighted to our hospital in Columbus Ohio for a tumor with fingers and cancer in the brain.

He had to have surgery right away. So on Christmas morning he went into the operating room. After that he needed to be in a nursing home.

After a while he came home for two weeks. He is right back in the nursing home and needs to be there for a long while.

He went through 42 chemo treatments and 26 radiation treatments. Now he has a staph infection he caught at the hospital.

This man has been handicapped for 48 years. He got paralyzed at age 17 when a car fell on top of him. He has been through 40 plus surgeries since then and has died on the operation table.

He is a strong-minded man and has the will to live and keeps on fighting to do so. He is 65 years old in a wheel chair and my grandma is trying her best to keep up and pay the bills.

She even started driving a school bus for part time trying to pay the nursing home bill and pay for everything in the house to. And it's not enough.

We need help paying for the nursing home stay. The insurance company will only pay for a 30-day stay. After that my grandmother has to pay $130 a day.

Welfare says they make too much money to get a medical card. Well once you add everything together and their income it's not enough.

Our family is trying to raise money to help but we are getting nowhere. So if you could help we would deeply appreciate it.

A grant would help us by keeping my grandfather in the nursing home and getting the treatment he needs to get better.

Mary, try this
by: Kim Hubbard

Mary, there are funds out there that are not always common knowledge. The internet is a great place to look for these and http://www.ability-mission.org/benefits is a great place to start. It will ask you some information to see what grants etc. you might qualify for (or your grandfather might) on the basis of military service, nationality and a lot of other specific things. I hope that helps. God bless!
