Grant To Help Schizoaffective Disorder Disabled Levi Supplement Disability

by Levi Whitworth
(Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA)

I am a 32-year-old Caucasian male. I am recently divorced with no kids. I have no military experience. I live in Virginia Beach with my pet dwarf bunny, Wilbur.

I spend most of my time trying to make extra money with graphic design, with which I have skills and know-how. I am also a musician.

Disability Issues

I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder when I was 24 and was placed on Disability. I struggle with confusion, hallucinations, paranoia and extreme anxiety.

I also have always had major problems with depression. Most days it is hard for me to accomplish anything productive, but I'm determined to fight through it because of my future goals.

I take medication that helps half way, but the rest of the way is up to me, and how much I work on controlling my thoughts.

My condition affects every aspect of my life, most of all my social life. I have a lot of trouble socializing and keeping friends. And my professional life is a wreck.

This illness of mine is rather severe, and I wouldn't be able to live if it weren't for my Disability benefits.

Financial Hardship

The bottom line is, I don't make enough money to pay all my bills and eat too. My benefits only cover part of my expenses, so I find myself in increasing debt.

This month particularly, I'm forced to move out of my apartment because I can't make the rent this month. This will be the fourth time I've moved for the same reason in the past six months.

My insurance helps cover most of the cost of my medication, but every little expense adds up to the point where I sometimes can't make it to my doctor's appointments or to the pharmacy on time, and I miss taking my meds.

Food is the main issue. I'm always hungry due to lack of food.

Income Efforts

I happen to own a truck, so I am always on the lookout for jobs I can do for people who need the use of a truck.

Also I am good at computer graphics, and I try to use that skill to make extra money. I've done logo designs and a few children's book illustrations, but the pay is rather low and not at all reliable. And the cost of the software I need is above my budget.

So it's a losing battle.

I also do tattoos, but that work is even sparser because I have no history in tattooing. People want their tattoos done by someone who is much more experienced than me.

Specific Needs

I need more money if I ever want to get my business off the ground. I need things like art supplies and computer software.

I also need enough money so I can maintain a healthy diet. Most days I only eat once, if at all.

And I need to be able to pay off my debts.

I would also like to go to design school sometime in the distant future.

Business Idea

I want to start a full-service graphic design business. I want to create animations and graphic website content. This is a somewhat costly enterprise due to the tools and software needed.

As part of that, I also want to pursue studio art. I paint, and I want to sell my paintings in galleries. I also want to market my work to magazines, greeting card companies, book publishers, etc.

I know that if I had a little startup capital, I could do a good job in this field, and especially if I can get some kind of formal training like in a specialized school that teaches the arts.

Hello Levi,

I don't know what your design skills are like, but I can say that you are a very good writer!

Have your tried listing your services on Elance, oDesk or Fiverr?

Now that your story is published, you are eligible for the Disability Help Guide Workbook.

The Workbook will show you how to build on your story to go after the help you need.

All the best,
Don Coggan
