Grants To Help Accident Disabled Dad Improve Life For Children
by Eddie Williams
(Bailey, MS, USA)
My name is Eddie Williams I am a 52-year-old male. I am single and have a 36-year-old daughter and two teenage kids. One will be graduating soon. I also have three grandchildren.
I joined the military in 1978 and graduated in Orlando, Florida. Being in the Navy, serving my country, and being the best I could be was my dream and I made it. Thank you.
I was in a vehicle crash and left for dead in 2011. It was a rainy night and I had just gotten off from work. A drunk driver ran me off the road and out into the woods.
I flipped several times when my brakes locked up and I lost control. I ended up upside down. I was unconscious for a while.
As a Christian person, the only thing to save me that night was God. I was found hours later after I became alert and turned on my headlights and beeped my horn. I could not move or walk.
I was transported by ambulance after someone noticed my headlights in the woods. I had hit large pine trees and turned upside down.
I lost my job and everything I once owned while waiting on disability benefits.
I have no more unemployment benefits to draw. I am having very bad times right now financially. I don't have an answer, and nowhere to turn but to God. That one night has changed my life.
Since then the church I attend have given my family and me a small donation. I thank God I am still alive. Thank you for this opportunity to tell my story.
I have had to beg for help every month for to pay our bills. We have no up-to-date clothes. My truck engine went bad two months ago and it will cost over $15,000 to fix.
My family has no transportation and my children are in school and other activities. They want to be like the other kids. The other kids laugh at them and call them poor trash. This is very emotional for me.
We have to go through this hardship situation. We don't deserve it. We are Christian people. We don't have money for food unless we eat at someone else's house.
We received a small donation from my church.
All the foundations I have asked for help will not help us because we are not an organization. They don't help individual families. We have no one in our family who can help because they are struggling like we are they don't have extra cash to lend.
We have been denied many grants and we have poor credit and have been rejected for personal and other loans. We have contacted many nonprofits and charity organization. They all have guidelines to follow and we never meet the requirements.
We are tired of being rejected and having to suffer as United States citizens because no one cares.
We have never received a grant. We cannot afford to pay for a lawyer. After years we finally received Social Security benefits.
We are so behind on everything now, every paycheck is already spent when we receive it. We are paying back bill collectors and all others sources that we owed before we were approved for disability benefits.
I hope someone will listen, someone will pay attention to what I am saying, someone will really care about what my family and I have been through. I hope someone will pray for us and truly mean it. Maybe someone will care to help us and do the right thing. This is my 2013 request to you.
No one will lend me money with the credit score I have now. We live in an old, 35-year-old family house that needs a lot of repairing. My grandparents owned this house before they died. This is the family house. I can't get any equity out of the home even if I wanted to.
I don't have a will. I don't know what the next days will bring. I just want to be like other people, supporting my family like other dads and being loved by loved ones.
I want my kids to be happy and comfortable at school without being low-rated. I hope to receive blessings from God for all my prayers and work within the church. This is our story from the Williams family in crisis. Thank you and have a blessed day.
