My Name is Regina Jeffries. I am a single parent of four children. Cierra is my third child. She is friendly and likes to have fun, singing and dancing.

Cierra is helpful to others. She has a pretty smile and a great laugh and sense of humor. She is generally a happy person.

Disability Issues

Cierra is a 29-year-old black female diagnosed with Down Syndrome and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and moderate intellectual disability.

In the United States, the majority of people with Down Syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities were kept in inhuman institutions, and deprived of education and healthcare.

Until 1984, doctors in the United States refused to provide lifesaving procedures to people with Down Syndrome.

Financial Hardship

Our financial hardship is not being able to have enough income to provide us reliable transportation.

We are currently receiving SSI benefits monthly, but our income is still below the poverty level.

We are paying $376 rent monthly, as well as light bill, phone, and groceries. We are depending on other people for transportation.

Income Efforts

I have tried to work at home through MLS, but that did not work. I think it was a scam and it cost too much.

I have asked friends and family for financial help, but that did not work. No one has money.

I have tried taking surveys online, which was not good. It requires money to make money in those programs.

Being disabled, it does not provide a lot of opportunities when you are limited.

I found Ability-Mission.org online and it offers some amazing opportunities to work. I like the jobs that are for working at home.

Specific Needs

We are seeking a grant or benefits in the amount of $1000 to purchase a car for reliable transportation to have for grocery shopping, and doctor appointments.

I am currently about to go to college to obtain a degree in writing. i would need transportation for job training.

My Dear Regina
by: Rebecca Nakanwagi

I am so sorry to hear what you are facing as a single mother. Please, I have nothing to contribute to your 'cause I am also facing the same problem. But all in all, we have to be patient and pray to the Almighty God to give us according to him.

I wish you the best,
Rebecca
