31 Year Old Depression Hampered Single Mom In Debt Seeks Housing Grant

I'm a 31-year-old mom in debt looking for a housing grant. I don't have a disability, although depression is a concern.
My children depend solely on me. I am currently unemployed and receive only $248 twice a month from public assistance.
I just recently finished Medical Assistant training in 2010. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find employment in my area of training.
I have applied online and in person but because I only have my schooling as experience I haven't had any success.
I am looking for help in buying a home for my children and myself. My credit is bad and I am not earning enough to do.
I am 31 years old and have never had my own home where my children could have the joy of having their own rooms.
I am currently living at home with my cousin where I've lived my whole life.
My grandmother raised me and when she passed my cousin took financial responsibility for the house because I was not able to do so.
Out of the kindness of her heart she continues to let me and my children stay there so that we won't be homeless.
I would like my children to one day have a home to call their own. So this single mom in debt simply wants a housing grant to provide a permanent roof over our heads.
