Disability Grant To Help Arthritis Disabled Jazherah Get Service Dog

by Jazherah MacMornna
(San Francisco, California, USA)

I'm a 61-year-old woman of African, Irish, Cherokee, Italian, and French heritage. I have no family left.

I've had a lot of jobs including playing in a blues band, taking care of race horses, and growing herbs to sell to restaurants.

Disability Issues

Between injuries from an assault and work-related ones and worsening arthritis, I have balance and mobility issues as well coping with clinical depression and type 2 diabetes.

My knees, shoulders, and back no longer work the way they're supposed to.

Financial Hardship

My only income now is SSI and Medi-Cal pays for some of my medications. Basic living expenses plus AT&T's constant raising their internet fees take a giant bite out of $889.

Income Efforts

I did grow herbs to sell but constant vandalism of the garden and the bad back ended that.

I do online surveys but that really doesn't pay.

GoFundMe has proven useless so far and I don't like begging anyway.

Friends help with small loans but I can't keep that up.

Specific Needs

A service dog trained for balance and mobility and balance assistance will help me get about better.

Plus having the dog to care for will help alleviate my depression. If she can also be a diabetic alert dog, it will help a lot.

Business Idea

I have some experience training dogs so i'm considering a career training service dogs. I'm also a writer and I perhaps can combine these in some way.

Thanks so much for your suggestion. I'm certainly going to look into it. And thanks for the encouragement as well.

Hi Jazherah,

I'm so sorry to hear of your problems. I hope you can reach out to friends since you don't have any family left for support. The income you receive is so low I'm amazed you are making ends meet. I'm sure it's quite a challenge.

I do have a suggestion. You might check into the link I'll post here. Besides following your workbook, which offers excellent ways to improve your situation, the organization you could join for free below will also steer you toward the help you need, including more benefits, grants, and possibly even a way to help you get a service dog. Here it is (and again, signing up is free, there are no charges for their services):

Disability Digest

Good luck, many blessings, and prayers are coming your way.
