Disability Grant To Help Cynthia Buy Wheelchair Van For TBI Disabled Grandson
by Cynthia Jordan

I care for my four-year-old grandson with severe disabilities resulting from abuse from his mother. He was born premature, but healthy.
At four months old, he was severely injured by his mother who caused bleeding on the brain and fractured limbs.
Part of his brain died from the impact of the brain trauma replacing the brain matter with water. He now has complex partial epilepsy, ischemic encephalopathy, spastic quadriparesis and cerebral palsy.
His medical needs are lifelong and complex requiring 24/7 adult supervision for the remainder of his days.
Brain Damage to Four Year Old Caused by Mother
He is non-verbal, unable to walk, speak (but makes sounds, laughs, etc.), stand, sit up on his own and see properly. He has other disabilities and is wheelchair bound.Financial Hardship
I quit my job to stay home to care for my grandson. I couldn't bear to see him in the foster care system. He is my blood, my family, and I wanted to care and love him for the remainder of his days.
Yes, I forfeited a substantial income, but my grandson is so worth is all. I'm unable to work because he requires round the clock care. He has multiple frequent medical appointments each and every week of the year.Income Efforts
I've tried some work at home opportunities only to find that it was not an opportunity, but a scam.
There isn't much that I can do from home because I'm always at doctor appointments or tending to my grandson at home.
I receive a subsidy to care for my grandson.Specific Needs
My grandson needs a wheelchair accessible van and bathroom remodeling to accommodate his wheelchair and to safely bathe him.
The remodeling and removing of the tub is not paid by insurance. It was suggested that I install a handheld shower wand.
