Disability Grant To Help Daughter Get Accessible Vehicle For Blind Mother

by Sharon Kingery
(Statesboro, Georgia, USA)

My name is Sharon. I'm looking for a government grant to help me get an accessible vehicle for my parents.

I live with my bedridden and blind mother and almost blind father. They need 24/7 care.

I am 37 years old and unmarried. I have a son who is 16 years old. He picks up odd jobs to help make ends meet, since I can't work.

My mother has a good heart and always wants to help people, even if she can't do anything but pray for them.

I love my parents. You only have one mom and dad and they took care of me when I was little or hurt and now it's my turn.

She has not been out of our home in nearly 2-1/2 years except for hospitals and doctor appointments.

I am praying for a miracle that somehow I could manage to get her a handicap van.

I am scared that in case of a fire or disaster that I would have no way to get her out of danger.

She spent 81 days in the hospital when she broke her leg, and fought her way back from 3 times on life support, and having surgeries.

I just want to be able to get her to a park, in the sunshine, maybe in her wheelchair to Church. Oh, how she misses her church.

Please if there is some kind of assistance that I can apply for, I would sincerely appreciate it.

Our home is not medically equipped for her, but we are doing that little by little. My main focus is being able to get her to safety in the event of a disaster or emergency.

I gave up my life basically to make sure my mother is taken care of along with my father in their final years.

I am so blessed to have had them with me as long as I have. I would just like to let them see the world just a few more times.

It doesn't have to be a 2010; it just needs to be a safe vehicle. Please if there is any kind of assistance, please inform me of what I need to do.

God bless the person who reads this letter and can offer some suggestions on getting government grant money for an accessible vehicle.

Thank you so much for your time. God Bless!

This might help

Sharon, if you're able to fund a used accessible van, look on Craigslist, the paper, etc. You might call your local United Cerebral Palsy or independent living center locally, as they might have suggestions.

Another thing I want you to know is that there are several funding sources available that many do not know about but if you follow the link below, you'll find detailed instructions on using the #1 federal government website listing benefits you're eligible for, based on your particular qualifications and needs. I hope this helps! God bless!
