Disability Grant To Help Vietnam And Gulf War US Army Vet John With Accessible Home Repairs

by John Renaud
(Killeen,Texas, USA)

My name is John Renaud. I'm married with two sons that are married with families of their own.

I'm a 63-year-old veteran of the Vietnam and Gulf Wars. I retired honorably after 22 years in the US Army. I live in Killeen, Texas.

Disability Issues

I've been dealing with stress, insomnia, depression and anxiety. The depression developed as a young man growing up.

Even today I am taking medications for my health. I am housebound. I am making all my appointments and abiding by the doctor's guidance.

Financial Hardship

I am presently low budget with help from Social Security Disability and Military Retirement but not enough for repairs and upgrades needed for my home and property.

My utility bills are high. My home is at present unsafe for trips and falls. I'm not able to pay for air-conditioning repairs.

Income Efforts

I am unemployable, but I'm searching online for work that I am able and qualified to for. I've applied for work-at-home jobs.

I've called Veterans Administration and a handful of organizations asking for help.

I recently have been posting on Craig's List and eBay to sell my collectibles.

Specific Needs

I am seeking help for home improvement. I need to widen doors and install handrails in the shower and toilet.

I need a wheelchair accessible ramp built so I can enter and exit my home safely.

I need to make home repairs inside, outside and under my home. I need to replace insulation and sidings, repair the air conditioning and fix up the heating vents.

I have to cut and remove trees destroying my fence and I have to remove the old mobile home.

Multible Medicle Disabilities
by: John Renaud

Since the publishing of this request for help, I have been upgraded to 100% disabled. I am unable to walk now, spending most of my days in a wheelchair.

I had applied for help through the VA for purchasing a wheelchair accessible vehicle. I was declined for their reasons. My nerves from my waist down through my legs to my feet hurt constantly. I am also suffering from Parkinson's Disease and COPD. I have a hard time breathing after walking 15 Feet.

I am now in need of a wheelchair accessible vehicle to make my hospital and doctors appointments.

Disabled Homebound Veteran Seeks Help
by: John

I am hoping there is help for me to live the rest of my life comfortable like most other people. I would like for my home to be safe and secured, be able to move around my home and not worrying about my home deteriorating from the rodents, slips, trips and falls. I worry about if any diseases or illness might accrue if my home is not sealed or winterized. I would appreciate any and all the help offered. Thank you.
