Disability Grants For Back Pain Disabled Navy Vet Michael To Build Salon Business

(Orlando, FL, USA)

My name is Michael. I'm a 40-year-old guy married to an absolutely amazing wife of 17 years with three wonderful kids. They are 16, 12 and 6.

I spent 20 years in the Navy as a Logistics Specialist. I enjoyed my job because I enjoyed giving back to others. Doing for others has always been a calling of mine.

Disability Issues

My disabilities are due to a car accident that I suffered overseas while stationed in Japan. Because it took them three years to treat me for more of the severe conditions I developed arthritis.

I have been given 100% service-connected disability that has left me very limited to the type of work that I am able to perform.

Currently, my medical conditions consist of multiple issues. I'm in the phase of seeing a pain management specialist to help with my back, cervical spine, migraines, feet, knees and hips.

Every day I'm very limited to the activities that I can do with my kids because of my daily pain.

Financial Hardship

The financial hardships that I face daily are very hard. I know that I'm mentally capable holding a job, but because of my disabilities it's extremely hard to find work that I can do and that will not make my pain worse.

Paying my mortgage, keeping gas in the cars and buying medications are all challenges. The stress adds up so fast.

My wife was working but her job was taking half of everything that she was making each week. With driving an hour to work and sometimes getting stuck in traffic, it seems most of her hard-earned money was going to buy gas.

Income Efforts

Most jobs would require me to drive a long distance and long driving trips make my pain worse. I dread driving. My medications make me drowsy so it's hard some days to operate my car.

I had a good job but had to quit because I was physically unable to do the work and they could not find me another position within the company.

Specific Needs

I'm seeking the help of a commercial realtor, lawyer and advice on starting a business. I need help with writing a business plan, donations, sponsorship or just any help that can be offered.

I need the help of a handy man that I can have on call for the business. The salon equipment itself is going to be the biggest cost and we could use donations for that also.

Business Idea

We are trying to finance Salon Suites. We need to find a location that has 3000-5000 square feet. We would divide it up into 16 suites for licensed cosmetologists to come in and rent from the business.

Clients would decorate it any way that would fit their salon culture as well as their own personalities. We will offer an environment where clients can live the dream of being their own boss.

Each room will be provided with same amount equipment that goes with the size of the room. Each client would only be responsible for rent. As owners of the building we would cover all utilities and maintenance cost each month.

Right Track Michael
by: Jimmy Maddox

You are surely on the right track. We have used the same strategy several times very successfully. We began with the Beauty Salon concept and then did a Craft & Flee Market Site.

We also did two Automotive Repair Shops. One with the mechanics renting their space monthly and we provided all the special equipment and lifts. Plus we sourced all the parts for a profit. Very profitable, that one. The other was space, tool and equipment rental for short term repairs by customers on their own vehicles. We had a retired professional mechanic as manager. We had alliances with parts stores and made a profit there as well.

One point we learned the hard way. But it only took once to know, you cannot be over liability insured. We are rooting for you and your family. Happy Thanksgiving...
