Disability Grants To Help Depression Disabled Kelly With Low Income Housing

by Kelly Adams
( Colton, California, USA)

My given name is Kelly Adams. I prefer and go by Kelly Adams-Griffin. I'm a 22-year-old widow bouncing around the city of Colton, California.

My husband and I had a religious wedding so in the state California it is unrecognized and considered invalid.

On November 30th of 2012 my husband passed away at the age of 26. He served seven years in the United States Army and retired an honorable veteran.

His family requested not to have a funeral or burial ceremony. All I have is memories of what we were. I didn't get to tell him how much I looked up to him.

Disability Issues

I've been dealing with stress, insomnia, depression and anxiety. The depression developed as a young girl when my dad just left one day.

Since my husband passed I've been talking to a counselor because everything seems so stressful and I have a breakdown.

The medication given to me takes my appetite away, which is really bad because I weigh around 112 pounds.

I'm trying meditation as a organic alternative now. It helps my right ankle that I sprained last year.

Financial Hardship

Any money that I receive automatically is cut in half for the following day. The city of Colton only gives motel vouchers to families who are waiting to lease a house.

I've tried for a bus reduction fee and hot meal vouchers, but they're only for certain families.

San Bernardino County has a Housing Authority program for Section 8, temporary housing and rental assistance but the wait time is five years.

I do not have children so most of the programs don't apply to me

Income Efforts

I've gone to multiple county buildings asking for any resources or community jobs hiring.

I've called the 211 hotline, the Red Cross and a handful of organizations asking about housing instead of money.

I applied at a job agency and was hired so once a month I get to work a small one-day job.

I recently have been forced to sell my collectibles.

Specific Needs

I am seeking all information about:

- Small business grants and school grants.
- Rental assistance and low-income housing.
- Organizations with used cars for cheap.
- Eco-friendly home energy savings products.
- Programs and benefits the VA offers.
- Homeless assistance programs in California.

Business Idea

I would love to start an after-school tutoring program for low-income families and their children that want to excel but money is a problem.

Sending prayers your way
by: John

I pray that the Lord and anyone who has the ability and means to help you does so unselfishly and proves that good people really do exist. Good luck and God bless. I wish I could help but I'm in a place that makes that impossible so prayers is all I have to give!!!
