Disabled Iraq Veteran And Family Seek Help With Debt Relief

by Jereme Walker
(Birmingham, Alabama, USA)

This is Sgt. Jereme Walker from Birmingham, Alabama. I'm 29 years old and married with two beautiful children.

I was in the army for nine years from the age of 18. I did two tours in Iraq. In the second, a roadside bomb blew off my left foot heel and fractured my spine.

Doctors amputated one of my toes and fused together the bones of another.

I have PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and mild traumatic brain injury.

My memory was really bad but I am learning to cope with it though, by using a calendar book with date and time.

This helps me keep up with everything that goes on in my life as far as my appointments and important things are concerned.

I have from 4 to 5 appointments a week to help me get back to the way I used to be. I think as long as I keep a positive mind frame and continue to pray, my family and I will be okay.

But we have financial problems like rent and some utilities. We are trying our best, but it is a big pay drop from being in the army to being out, but I had no choice but to get out.

If you can help my family and me with some financial assistance then we would be most grateful. God bless and thank you.

As a disabled person myself, I can sympathize with your situation and I definitely understand your need for help.

I've done a bit of research and found these resources for you:

Consumer Credit Counselors

Vocational Rehabilitation

Vocational Rehabilitation Subsistence

State Veterans Affairs Offices

Others reading your story may be able to contribute more.

In any case, please let us know if they've been helpful to you.
